Starting with  easy woodworking projects when beginning your new hobby or pastime is always a good idea as it will ease you in gradually and help to build your confidence.

I have to admit I spent years fumbling about wasting lumber and time on the teach yourself ( I know best ) approach. I did eventually see sense and found that there was a whole load of benefits to be had from using a structured plan for my easy woodworking projects.

The advantages a plan gives you are many. You will be able to organize your project from start to finish, step-by-step, knowing that when you do make a start you have all the right tools to get the job done, all the right materials and hardware and you will have a clear vision about  the different processes needed to complete the project.

There are a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration with any project and in the beginning you will be glad if those considerations are taken care of for you. Plans will give you that guidence and are easily obtainable with a simple download.

If you go charging in like a bull in a china shop it is more than likely that your results will suffer. Take a slow, methodical approach at all times but even more impotant to do so in the early stages of your newfound hobby. Try to be patient and start off with an easy woodworking project. Trying to run before you can walk will only leave you frustrated and with little confidence.

Take your time, gradually build up your skill levels and make steady progress, in no time at all you will be producing quality, durable pieces.

You can make a start with something as simple as a planter box for the garden. Besides acquiring new skills in woodworking, projects such as this can teach you an even more valuable skill which is patience.

So really once you have decided to follow woodworking as a hobby all you need to do is take stock of the tools you either already have or need to get, plan a woodworking project and take things nice and slow, and be patient. Simple.
